2009 John Barnes Trophy Winner

Josh Jordan of Sheffield University was awarded the John Barnes Trophy and prize money totally £500, following a highly successful, and technically brilliant entry in this years competition. He presented a talk entitled "Innovative Aerodynamic Design of a Micro Air Vehicle" at the AEROSPACE ODYSSEY event held on 6th November 2009 at the Concorde Conference Centre, Manchester Airport.

The AAU was delighted to welcome ex president Dr John Barnes to present the official prizes. Later Josh was able to take the Captain's seat on Concorde under expert tuition from Vince Chadwick - pilot and resident technical expert.

Judge Chris Neal commented on the excellent standard of entries for this year's JB Trophy, and for Josh, winning will be an impressive accolade, and useful addition to his CV when he joins the Aerospace/Engineering work force. The AAU is always seeking to encourage students on their chosen career paths and welcomes entries to our prestigious competition.
