Merlin Flight Simulation Group is the manufacturer of the world's most advanced Engineering Flight Simulators for use within Aeronautical Universities.
Designed originally to teach the subjective aspects of flight, these Engineering Flight Simulators are now used in all aspects of aircraft design related principles, from the classic stability and control evaluation, through to cockpit ergonomics, systems engineering and avionics. Details of our simulators are on Merlin's website www.merlinsim.com
There are currently fourteen of these simulators being used on a variety of aerospace related courses within U.K. universities.
Simulator specification varies from university to university, but some have Rotary Wing capability, V/STOL, and Helmet Mounted Displays to complement the core aerodynamic model.
The simulators are the most versatile of laboratory equipment, and are being used from first year students through to research projects.
Merlin run a unique, annual Aircraft Design and Handling Competition in which student designs are 'flown' and assessed on an Engineering Flight Simulator by Test Pilots. The Competition is judged in two parts - the 'flying' and assessment of the aircraft designs, and the display of the project material and technical information - for more information and details of how to enter check www.merlinsim.com
